Guide
What “human” sounds like
- Clear goal in the first lines
- Everyday words (not corporate filler)
- Short paragraphs
- A real next step
What makes writing feel automated
- Overly formal openers
- Long, uniform sentence structure
- Vague timing (“soon”, “shortly”)
- Passive voice when accountability matters
One-minute rewrite method
- Write the main point in one sentence.
- Add one detail (date/next step).
- Add one warm line if appropriate.
- Cut everything that doesn’t change meaning.
Example
Before: “I am reaching out to follow up regarding the matter at hand. Please be advised we will provide an update shortly.”
After: “Quick follow-up: we’re still working on this and I’ll update you by 3pm today.”
